The specs were simple. Design a library beyond the scope of a traditional library where people can meet, learn and socialise. The historic place known as the old Marrickville hospital was the perfect opportunity for BVN Architects and GML Heritage to enhance the building's old character with contemporary design features. The interior lighting played an essential role in the overall design process as the focus was to create a bright and inviting atmosphere. The best way to achieve that look and feel, Steensen Varming designed linear luminaires for the main library space. 3S Lighting manufactured and supplied all the direct and indirect 50-Meter-long luminaires. We equipped the luminaires with special LED gear trays, so those can be removed from the main luminaire bodies for easier access and maintenance over time.
